[KPOP] TVXQ

This week and very first post is for TVXQ, I start with them because it's my favorite band, but don't worry i shall make updates about other bands or singers as well.

Tong Vfang Xien Qi (東方神起; Rising Gods of the East) (also known as Dong Bang Shin Ki (동방신기) in Korea and Tohoshinki (東方神起) in Japan, or by the acronyms TVXQ, DBSK, TVfXQ) is a K-Pop/J-Pop male duo (formerly five-member group) from Korea. They debuted in Korea in 26 december 2003 under SM Entertainmentlabel with the single "Hug",

and in April, 2005 in Japan under rhythm zone label with the single "Stay With Me Tonight".

In 2009 legal disputes arisen with SM Entertainment leaving at that moment the future of the group in Korea uncertain. In 2009 a lawsuit was put up by 3 members, Jaejoong, yoochun and Junsu. (JYJ) It was against there unfair contract. The other 2 members remained in SM ent. The other 3 members made there own band called JYJ. It was a silent time for both sides, sm made sure right after jyj made there first album that the 3 could not appear in shows. The 3 only could appear on tv by acting in a drama. The other 2 came back for the first time during sm town, before that time it had been more silence around them then JYJ. One year later, in April 2010, avex stated through a press release that their activities in Japan were also put in hold or suspended.
On April 14, 2010, it was announced the creation of a new group JUNSU / JEJUNG / YUCHUN by the three members that started the legal disputes. On November 23, 2010, SM Entertainment announced Tong Vfang Xien Qi comeback including only two members, U-Know and Max.
They own various records in Japan, with the single "Purple Line" they become first foreign male-group to have a #1 single on Oricon charts, Tohoshinki also broke Elton John's record for the highest first week sales by a foreign artist, which lasted for twelve years and four months with their 29th single "BREAK OUT!", and the release of their first best album, BEST SELECTION 2010, in February 2010 become the most sold album in its first week by a foreign group selling 412,861 copies.

[HISTORY] The last prince of korea

As you probebly know about korea, in the past they used to have a king and a queen, but why not anymore. Of course is wikipedia and other sites my big friend in this question.

I heard the story from somebody else, about a prince who felt in love with a european girl. She told me the girl was dutch, but when i was looking online i found the truth. The story she told me really happened. But the girl wasn't dutch.

So let's start at the begin of it, Prince Yi Ku (was a claimant to the throne of Korea) was born 29 December 1931,
Yi Gu at a young age

Gu was born in Kitashirakawa Palace (now Akasaka Prince Hotel), Kioicho, Kojimachiku, Tokyo, Japan; his father was Crown Prince Eun of Korea
Yi Un the last emperor of korea
and his mother was Princess Bangja, born Masako Nashimoto, a Japanese princess.

Masako Nashimoto a japanese princess and married to Yi Un

His father (Yi Un) was taken to Japan in December 1907, on the pretext of receiving a modern education. He was enrolled at Gakushūin and the Imperial Army Academy, both in Tokyo He was inrolled Korea became a part of Japan in 1910. After his grandfather died On 10 June 1926 his father became the korean Emperor. (demoted Korean sovereign's title after the Japan-Korean Annexation Treaty). His father also joined the Japanese army, and helped them during the second world war. Korea became independed after the second world war. His father made a requested permission from President Syngman Rhee to be allowed to return to Korea with his family, but was refused. In 1953 Prince Yu Ki went to  Centre College, Danville, Kentucky and studied architecture at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. There he met his future wife, Julia Mullock.

He married her in 1959 and both of them adopted a daughter named Eugenia Unsuk After his study he worked in New York from 1960 to 1964. After the fall of Syngman Rhee (The first president of korea) He will return to korea in 1963 with the help of the new president. He moves back to korea with his wife and his mother. He lectured on architecture at Seoul National University and Yonsei University and also managed his own airline, Shinhan. When that went bankrupt in 1979, he went to Japan to earn money. In 1982, his family forced him to divorce his wife because she was sterile; his mother died in 1989. He started living with a Japanese astrologer, Mrs. Arita. In November 1996, he made what he hoped would be his permanent return to Korea but, showing signs of a nervous breakdown, he was unable to adjust to life in Korea.Restlessly going back and forth between Japan and Korea, he eventually died of a myocardial infarction, a heart attack, at the age of seventy-three, on 16 July 2005 at the Akasaka Prince Hotel, the former residence of his parents in Tokyo, Japan. His funeral was held on 24 July 2005 and his posthumous title decided as "Prince Imperial Hoeun of Korea" by the Lee Family Council.

[DRAMA] Tamra the Island

This time i write about a korean drama i have watched some time ago. Tamra, the Island (Hangul: 탐나는도다; RR: Tamnaneun Doda). It was aired in 2009 starring Seo Woo, Im Joo-hwan and Pierre Deporte and has 16 episodes.

In this drama and young english boy, William J. Spencer (Pierre Deporte), set sail to Japan with his friend Yan (Lee Sun-Ho) . In the year 1640 Japan was a closed country and only traded with the Netherlands. William sails off to Nagasaki in order to open the “aquatic silk road” between Japan and England – but mostly to escape his creepy and overbearing mother and an arranged marriage. Yan is promised a handsome reward if he can drag her son back in time for the wedding and hightails it after his "friend." When they are close to japan a storm comes and william get into the sea, he finally reach the island of Tamra (now better known as Jeju island). On the island lives Jang Beo-jin (Seo Woo) she  is a young female diver on Tamra Island. She doesn't particularly enjoy her situation and dreams of one day leaving the island. One day, to her shock, she discovers William laying on the beach. Another young man named Park Kyu enters the island under the disguise of one of the many convicts sent to Tamra Island. In actuality, Park Kyu (Lim Ju-Hwan) is a budding government official known as a Seonbi. These three young people then become involved in a hilarious love triangle.

What i think of the drama, it had a pretty strong story, except it didn't ended the way i wanted it but that can happen it was still good. It had it's really funny moments and also serious moments.  Since i'm dutch i could understand the parts they did in dutch. In the begin when he talks "dutch" I could not understand him. I think a french guy who is playing an english guy and letting him speak dutch didn't worked out well. That is the same for the korean guy who tried to speak dutch, it wasn't the best thing i heard but also not really bad. Some points in the drama the dutch was good. But i think real dutch people where talking. It's worth to watch this drama!

The drama can be found online to watch - It worth to take a look to it.

About me!

Since this if the first time i post something here i won't make it to long,

What i want to write in this blog are things about korea, not only music or drama's but also culture and history, and other things that has to do with korea. I will talk about korean drama's and korean music, give the spotlight to a band or singer every week or maybe a drama (or i try to do that) and other things. And try to post every week a post about korea, from culture to history, gaming to clothes. This post maybe be really short and the blog it's style isn't anything related to my blog yet. I will make changes to all of that. (wish i knew HTML better XD) and other things. But let me know what you think of this idea to make a blog out of it and if you have nice idea for it i would love to hear it.

About me, well what to tell you about me, my name is Ingrid and i'm 21 years old. I'm from the netherlands and a big fan of TVXQ. Because of that i got more into korean culture. And i wanted to share that with you people. If you want to know anything more about me just feel free to ask me about it.

Hope you enjoy my blog in the future,
